What does verified mean on Halal Keys?

Verified means our team has independently checked the property against our full halal and family standard, backed by evidence such as halal certification and confirmation of prayer, pool and alcohol policies, and assigned a last-verified date. It is our highest level of assurance.

How do you check that food is really halal?

We look for recognised halal certification, verify the on-site dining or supplier arrangements, and confirm how alcohol and cross-contamination are handled. Where certification is not available, we say so and lower the assurance level accordingly.

What is the difference between verified, operator-confirmed and self-reported?

Verified is independently checked by our team. Operator-confirmed means the property confirmed key attributes in writing but we have not yet inspected them ourselves. Self-reported means attributes come from the property's public information and are awaiting confirmation. Each listing shows its level clearly.

How often do you re-check listings?

We re-verify on a rolling basis and whenever a property changes a relevant policy. Every verified listing shows a last-verified date so you can judge how current the information is.

What happens if a property no longer meets the standard?

We update or lower its verification level, correct the listing, and where necessary remove it. If you find something inaccurate, you can report it and we will investigate.

Is Halal Keys certification the same as a halal food certificate?

No. A halal food certificate covers food preparation by a certifying body. Halal Keys verification is broader: it assesses the whole stay: dining, prayer, privacy, alcohol policy and family suitability. We use recognised food certification as one input among several.

Trust that you can check, not just claims

Anyone can call a stay halal-friendly. We hold every listing to one written standard covering dining, prayer, privacy, alcohol and family suitability, then show you the level of assurance and the date it was last checked. When we cannot confirm something, we label it plainly rather than guess.
